HOKA Runaway Sydney Half Marathon is taking expressions of interest for experienced racing wheelchair athletes in the 10km event.   • Entries are available up until 5pm Friday 2 May 2025 unless sold out prior. Entries for personalised bibs (name) closes at Sunday 9 March 2025 at midnight AEST. Entrants after this will not have a name printed on their bib.
  • Race bib postage is available as an additional purchase for $12AUD up until 9 March 2025 for Australian address only. If race bib postage is not purchased, athletes must collect their race bib from the HOKA Runaway Sydney Half Marathon Expo during race week.

2025 Runaway Sydney Half Marathon Terms & Conditions (21.1km, 10km) 

ATHLETE MEDICAL WITHDRAWALS 

If you cannot participate in the event for medical reasons, partial entry fee refunds are available in accordance with the below stated Athlete Medical Withdrawal policy only. After the stipulated dates, entry fees are non-refundable for medical withdrawals initiated by the athlete. Requests for eligible partial refunds on the basis of medical reasons must be notified to the organiser in writing via email at runawaysydney@theironmangroup.com with supported medical certificate outlining the condition before 11:59pm (AEST) Sunday 23 March 2025Partial refunds will only be issued for the entry fee where participation in the event is not appropriate due to medical reasons.   

Where eligible, please allow up to 30 business days for your refund to be processed. The refund is automatically issued to the credit card originally used to pay for the registration. If this card has since been cancelled or has expired, it is the athlete’s responsibility to notify our customer service team when requesting the eligible refund.  

  • 45% of entry fee refundable for athlete medical withdrawal requests made up to 11:59pm (AEST) on 23 March 2025. No refunds for athlete medical withdrawals after this date. 

Additional purchases paid for at the time of entry (if any) which are paid by the Event Operator to a third-party are not refundable. These non-refundable additional purchases include:  

  • Bib Postage 

  • Nirvana Packages (please contact Nirvana directly) 

  • Pre-purchased photo packs (please contact Sportograf directly) 

  • Donations 

Your options regarding refunds for merchandise purchased during registration are outlined in the Online Stores Terms and Conditions available via https://runaway-series.myshopify.com/pages/terms-conditions. Please note that refunds are not offered for change of mind merchandise purchases. 

Athletes who have deferred into this event from a previous year, transferred into this event, entered through the use of an Event Credit or complimentary (100% discounted) entry are not eligible for athlete withdrawal refunds.    

Please note: This event takes place in Sydney, NSW, Australia. It is each athlete’s sole responsibility to ensure that they can attend (including Athlete Check-In during specified times) and compete in the event on the day. Other than as provided for in the Athlete Withdrawal program set out above, no further remedies will be provided for change of mind, change of personal circumstances (including work conflicts), or injury. 

If you decide to withdraw at the event after collecting your race bib at Check-In, please advise Event Information onsite. If you need to withdraw on race day, your details must be recorded by the Drop Out Clerk located at Event Information. 

ROAD RUNNING PREGNANCY POLICY

  • For Athletes that become pregnant after registering for HOKA Runaway Sydney Half Marathon: Event Organiser will provide a refund of the entry fee with proof of pregnancy or birth certificate of new child(ren).

  • For Athletes that are adopting or birthing via surrogacy: Event Organiser will provide a refund of the entry fee with proof of surrogacy birth or adoption within three months prior, or two months post-event date.

Verification

Athletes are required to provide written confirmation, by a qualified person or through official documentation, of the relevant circumstance e.g. medical note signed by a doctor, physician or registered midwife.

Event Organiser reserves the right to request additional verification of the relevant circumstances and may deny a refund request if the documentation provided is deemed insufficient.

Athletes can request to transfer their entry to a lesser or greater race distance up until such time as that race distance is sold out, subject to the following terms:  

  • To request a transfer from one race distance to another, athletes must log into their My Registration and select Change Category before 5:00pm (AEST) on 1May 2025. After this date, such requests can only be made at the Help Desk at Athlete Check-in.  

  • Transferring to a greater distance: Where an athlete requests to transfer to a greater distance and space is available, the athlete is required to pay the difference in entry fees between the two distances.  

  • Transferring to a shorter distance: Where an athlete requests to transfer to a shorter distance and space is available, the difference in entry fees will not be refunded.  

  • Athletes who deferred into this event, are required to contact runawaysydney@theironmangroup.comto request a change in distance.   

Athletes can transfer their race entry to someone else in accordance with the below stated Person to Person Transfer date:  

  • Person-to-Person transfers accepted up until 11:59pm (AEST) on 1st May 2025. No Person-to-Person transfers accepted after this date.  After this date, such requests can only be made at the Help Desk at Athlete Check-in.  

  • A transfer fee of $27AUD including all fees and taxes will be charged to the withdrawing athlete.  

  • Athletes can formally transfer their entry to someone else within the same distance event already entered.  

  • Additional purchases paid for at the time of entry (if any) which are paid by the Event Operator to a third-party are not refundable and will not be transferred with your entry. These non-refundable additional purchases include:

  • Pre-purchased photo packs (please contact Sportograf directly) 

  • Donations

  • It is not possible to transfer your entry to someone else who is wanting to do a different distance event (i.e. Half Marathon to 10km).  

  • To transfer an entry to someone else, the initial registrant must log in to their My Registration select ‘Transfer Registration’ and follow the necessary steps. Please note: the receiving athlete will be sent a link to complete the registration and will need to pay for the entry (at the current entry price advertised at https://runawaysydneyhalf.com.au/entry-info/) in order for the transfer to process, then the original athlete will be refunded their entry fee less the $27AUD including all fees and taxes transfer fee.  

  • Athletes who deferred into this event, are required to contactrunawaysydney@theironmangroup.comto request a Person-to-Person transfer.   

 

**As stated in the Athlete Waiver, under no circumstance are you permitted to give your bib to another person. The safety of our athletes is paramount, therefore we need to ensure we have correct details of all our athletes on course.  

The safety of all athletes on course is our priority. Our event team considers each race/event individually to determine the entry requirements. Due to course conditions, including the volume of participants on course, traffic conditions and road running safety requirements associated with this course, the HOKA Runaway Sydney Half Marathon is not suitable to be completed using racing wheelchairs or with prams.

Expressions of Interest are open for experienced racing wheelchair athletes in the HOKA Runaway Sydney 10km event. To express your interest please contact us at runawaysydney@theironmangroup.com and provide your phone number and your racing history.

Any participant wishing to compete in a non-racing or day wheelchair are welcome to enter the HOKA Runaway Sydney Half Marathon or 10km and are asked to enter the Yellow Start Group. Please be aware and consider the below before entering:

  • Overall course cut-offs must be met by all competitors – (course cut-offs subject to change)

    • Runaway Sydney Half Marathon cut-off time is 3 hours from start line closure

    • Runaway Sydney 10km cut-off is 9:15am (must be able to maintain an average pace of 12min/km or faster)

  • Course elevation, density, terrain and surfaces will vary. There may be areas of the approved course on public land which require assessment based on individual ability, competitors should familiarise themselves with the entire course to ensure its suitability before entering.

To participate in the elite start group, please email our team with proof via weblink or finisher certificate of you running the qualifying time or pace at any official race to runawaysydney@theironmangroup.com. The race can be anywhere in the world, but must have been completed within the last 2 years and be 10km or longer in distance.
